arts and music festival

So this past weekend I went to a arts and music festival that was being held in my neighborhood, and as usual I was wearing my hair out and big. It still surprises me the amount of attention that my hair gets and from all different characters and races of people.  A fellow natural haired beauty asked to take a picture of my hair, now if that isn't a boost of confidence then i don't know what is. Some asked what I use on it, what accessories do i like to use, but mainly they just remarked on how much they loved my hair. For a person that spent a good amount of their life straightening their hair with the iron it feels pretty good. Just last year if my hair wasn't straighten I just didn't feel put together, now don't get me wrong i have always tried to give my curly hair a chance but it just never acted the way i wanted. Now I dare not to even think about straightening out this massive frizz, and I'm happy never been happier! How blessed do I feel to have all this hair on my head!

  1. Hi AfroTabi,

My name is Marcel Lado and I'm the founder of GroYoFro.com, which is a website dedicated to curly hair and encouraging others to let theirs grow too. I'm a college student based in Los Angeles and I have finished the layout of the site, but what is lacking is the content. The reason why I'm sending you this message is because I found your website and I'm wondering if you would be interested in contributing articles/ having a profile on my page?

My goal for the website is to make it interactive and for visitors to feel connected to something larger then themselves. I'm tired of seeing my fellow curly haired friends cut their hair or straighten it and most often times it's because they feel intimated. So, I hope that if they see others growing out their curly hair/fro then they will realize the sexiness of theirs too!

I'll be having three main sections: articles, music and apparel. In regards to the music, it'll be for the musicians so that they can have a platform to express their creativity and include their love of curly hair at the same time! Videos and/or mp3 tracks will be encouraged!

In regards to the apparel section, my brothers own a clothing store (closetcollection.com) and have all the equipment necessary to screen print/ heat press custom clothing. So, if you have any designs or phrases that you think would be great on a T-Shirt just let me know and we can make it happen!

In regards to the articles, I have several lined up and ready to be released, but I would also like to publish some of yours as well if it's okay with you?? Of course, 110% credit will be given to you!

Please let me know your thoughts/comments/suggestions??? Thank you for your consideration and I hope to hear from you soon!
